How many times have you said this? Probably as many times as I have. We judge ourselves harshly when it comes to physical appearance, not realizing that perfection is a concept created in the mind of each person and that it is far removed from reality.
But let's see, what is the definition of a perfect body? Let's start with the fact that perfection doesn't exist, ok done, there you have it! I have compared myself to many people throughout my life, judging whether their bodies are something I consider ideal or not. In doing so, I have discriminated who I am and the way I look because I don't seem to fit into this perception of “perfection” that I had for a long time.
My self-esteem was growing, and I started to like what I saw of myself, just in time before I started in the world of beauty pageants. Even though I didn't have the “perfect” body that most of the beauty pageants have, it never stopped me from reaching my goal. That's when I understood that it goes beyond the type of body we have, it has to do with the love we give it and the confidence we have in our minds. If you don't see yourself as ideal, no one will.
It's all within you and the mental image you have of yourself. One of the tips I give is that the competition comes from your inner self because the only person who can sabotage you is you, the rest are challenges that you can overcome with confidence. Do not compare what you are with others, every human being is unique and unequalled.
This does not mean that you should abandon who you are just because you accept yourself. The best way to show you care is to be healthy and maintain constant activity. The first step to be better is to understand that what we are is fine, but that there are always possibilities to be better. Always working on positivity and optimism.
I am still able to criticize myself, to say “I want to change this part, I would like it to look better” but I do it from a different mental place than before, I do it from the desire to be better or from the acceptance that it does not make me any worse.
Today I love my body more than ever, maybe I'm not the most fit in the world, but I love it, and that's what's important. I decided to choose the perception with which I look in the mirror and once I did it everything changed for me, so you do it too! Change your perspective and love the body you have that is perfect in imperfection.
